RiseLight is a high-end luminaire designed to explore the interplay of light, shadow, and movement. The project was inspired by my travels to India, where I was captivated by the contrast between the precise geometry of the architecture and the fluid grace of traditional garments. This dynamic is reflected in RiseLight’s kinetic form, offering users a tactile experience to adjust both brightness and shadow patterns.
Originally conceived for an international design competition, which I won, the project is now in development in Mumbai as a premium lighting solution for residential and commercial venues. The luminaire’s steel frame draws from the precision of India’s architectural marvels, while the silk weave, crafted by local artisans, adds a touch of cultural authenticity. Through its counterweight system, users can manually adjust the light to create a sophisticated balance of illumination and shadow, transforming interior spaces with each interaction.
